Munich, July 22nd 2016: student David S. kills nine people and himself. His gun was purchased through the darknet, an obscure and hard to reach part of the internet. On the anniversary of this event Mythos Darknet sheds a light on this supposedly "dark" part of the global net. But the documentary also features positive use cases for the darknet technology. The film paints a detailed picture on how the Darknet evolved from a project of the American Ministry of Defense into a buzzing marketplace for human vices - but highlights also how journalists in repressive regimes benefit from this secretive part of the net.
